shetland ponies
There is a public footpath through this pasture in Bangor, Wales. There is one stallion:
... and about 15 mares plus their babies.
It's about 10 acres of grass on the edge of town (literally the edge - one border of the property is a cliff that drops to the sea). Apparently, every spring the herd is dropped off and left until autumn. They have only the trees for shelter, and a small creek for water.

Visiting the cousins in England
While I was on exchange in Wales, I got to visit a second cousin. She and her husband graciously took me riding. It was very lovely country.
This is Brad with his champion show jumper, Ollie.

There also happened to be an eventing trial that weekend.
